Negacionismo del SIDA: Argumentos y discusión epistemológica
Resumen
Objetivo: Identificar y confrontar los argumentos negacionistas con conceptos epistemológicos históricos. Material y métodos: Se realizó una revisión en Pubmed y Scopus para identificar argumentos científicos que niegan el SIDA, utilizando términos relacionados con “denial”, “AIDS” y “HIV”. Se incluyeron estudios observacionales, notas, ensayos, y cartas al editor, y se analizaron los argumentos seleccionados basándolos en posturas epistemológicas para explicar sus errores. Resultados: La búsqueda reveló pocos manuscritos en la literatura científica que niegan la existencia del VIH o el SIDA. Estos argumentos se dividen en cuatro categorías: 1) bajas muertes por VIH comparadas con casos positivos, 2) aumento de la población a pesar del SIDA, 3) toxicidad de los antirretrovirales superando sus beneficios, y 4) origen del SIDA en drogas, antirretrovirales y desnutrición. Conclusión: Ninguno de los argumentos negacionistas del SIDA tiene un fundamento epistemológico válido y su origen se encuentra en contextos políticos que defienden posturas pseudocientíficas. Los autores que niegan el SIDA no han realizado investigaciones que verifiquen sus hipótesis, basándose en críticas e interpretaciones erróneas. La historia demuestra que es responsabilidad de los científicos frenar la pseudociencia y proporcionar interpretaciones correctas y accesibles a la sociedad.
